detail, in this third edition of the nonfiction book

Sketch by Susan Wooten: “huge” pterosaur
she saw in South Carolina
Patty Carson saw the strange flying creature at Guantanamo
Bay Naval Base in Cuba around 1965 and sketched it more
recently. Other eyewitnesses in Cuba confirm that this flying
animal is real and looks not like any bat or any bird but
exactly like a big long-tailed pterosaur.
Thrilling accounts of live “pterodactyls”
"Neither my brother or I was prone to being scared . . . This
night was different. . . . the creature [flew] just above the
phone lines. It would go one direction, turn, and swoop back.
. . . The wingspan was huge, anywhere from 6-10 feet across."
(Texas)
“. . . on a clear mid-afternoon in the fall [1989] . . . [She] saw
something flying from her left, then passing in front of her
. . . 'It swooped down over the highway and back up . . . as big
as any car . . . no feathers.'" (South Carolina)
“What caught my eye was the bright radiation like light
coming from the belly of this Pterodactyl looking animal.
I seen it fly right above us maybe 150-200 feet and this thing
wasn’t no bat; it was bigger with large wing span.” (Southern
California)
“I noticed a strange looking bird in the sky . . . like something
straight out of the dinosaurs era. It scared [me] . . . What stood
out was the long pointed head and . . . a very long tail between
the legs and with a ball shaped on the end of it.” (Wisconsin)
“It was getting dark but there was plenty of light in the sky
when we saw what we believe to be a pterodactyle. The
wingspan seemed to be about 25’ to 30’ ft wide. It was probably
about 70’ to 80’ off the ground, flying over a large tree in front
of the house. I never saw the wings flap; it just glided on air.”
(Arkansas)
“I have been haunted for . . . years by what I saw in the desert.
I have never told anyone due to the fact that I was afraid I
would be thought nuts . . . I can't tell you what a relief it is to
know I am not alone.” (Anza Borrego Desert, So. California;
the eyewitness was relieved to learn that other Americans had
also seen a pterosaur)
Learn the truth for yourself
You be the judge of each of these sighting reports. Although
the author has included each account because of its own
credibility, you decide what you think of each one; although
Whitcomb believes the overall eyewitness evidence points to
more than one species of pterosaurs living in the U.S., you
form your own opinions.
The Book and the Author
Jonathan Whitcomb, before and after writing “Searching
for Ropens, Living Pterosaurs in Papua New Guinea,"
received emails from many eyewitnesses who saw similar
creatures in the U.S. Four years after returning from his
expedition in Papua New Guinea, he started writing a new
nonfiction: “Live Pterosaurs in America.” Now you can read
of these encounters Americans have had in California, Ohio,
Georgia, South Carolina, Pennsylvania, and many other
states. Read their words about apparent living pterosaurs.
Expanded third edition of book
This new edition gives you new evidence, more than was
in the first two editions. In particular, the Carson sighting
in Cuba greatly supports Eskin Kuhn’s account:
“I was only a child when I saw it . . . around six years
old . . . We were walking down near the boat yards,
headed home . . . Suddenly it sat up, as if it had been
eating something or resting. The head and upper part of
its body, about a third of the wings at the joint . . . All
of us froze for about five seconds, then it leaned to its
left and took off with a fwap fwap fwap sound . . . The
skin was a leathery, brownish reddish color. It had little
[small] teeth, a LOT of them.”
From a reader in Pennsylvania
“The problem with science is that we think we know
it all and that is far from reality. This book shows
courage to continue the search. If you have an
interest in cryptozoology you should read this.”
(Dale S. Reeder of Pennsylvania; a reader of the
first edition of this book)
From a twelve-year-old reader (five stars):
“This book is a great book! This book contains a lot
of sightings and information on living pterosaurs. I
highly recommend this book to anyone who is
interested in living pterosaurs.” (A Kid’s Review: for
the 1st edition of
Live Pterosaurs in America
; Amazom)
From a reader in Wisconsin:
“. . . there is something here for everyone . . . Once
you start to reading it you won’t want to put it down
. . . amazing and awe inspiring . . . Out of five
stars, I’ll give it all five.” (From Isaac Elekom, who
read a proof copy of the third edition: Five Stars)
Five Stars From “StrangeDream”
“I couldn't put this book down. It is absolutely
fascinating to read about eyewitness accounts of
the people who have seen these creatures. To
learn about these testimonies from such an
open minded perspective is refreshing in the
extreme! . . . I highly recommend this book to
anyone! People should know the truth about what
is going on. No one ever hears anything about this
unless they conduct extremely specific internet
searches, even then, information is minimal.”
“Jonathan Whitcomb needs to write more books!”
